‘Windpomp’ Museum in Loeriesfontein

“There is a what, where?” That pretty much summed up my response when my boyfriend told me that he want’s to make a quick stop in Loeriesfontein to show me the Windpomp museum. It ended up being quite an fun stop. We were driving through Loeriesfontein on a public holiday, the Fred Turner museum was closed and nobody manned the entrance gate,  so we entered. There are a collection of 27 working windpumps in all shapes and sizes. Each with it’s own name painted on the tail. Apparently some of these were donated from the USA and even Canada. The Fred Turner Museum is open during the flower season, August-September, but there is a sign with contact numbers if you want to visit during the rest of the year. There is no entrance fee, but donations are welcome.
