Lord Milner Hotel at Matjiesfontein

The Lord Milner Hotel in Matjiesfontein is a beautiful building dating back to 1899. Originally it was used as a command post for the Cape Western Command. Today it is a 3-star heritage site hotel with the interior reminding you of the era long gone in the Karoo. The hotel was named for Lord Alfred Milner, who was the governor of the Cape during The South African War (Anglo-Boer War). They have a beautiful garden and courtyard area. If you have the time stay over and enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility of the Karoo. Me and a colleague just briefly stopped over for lunch on our way to Cape Town on a business trip and I was really impressed with everything from the food to the hospitality. They will definitely be seeing me again, hopefully for a longer stay.
