Friends of ours invited us along for a camping weekend in Yzerfontein. They booked 2 stands at Yzerfontein Caravan Park, which is within walking distance of the beach. We were super excited as this would be our first camping outing with our rooftop tent. And what better place to start our new travels! Yes, camping does require some extract packing, but if you split it between 4 couples it’s not that many extras. We checked the weather forecast and things were not looking too good. Luckily for us, the weatherman got it wrong again. As the seasons has already started to change it was slightly cool during the nights, but still ok to sit outside next to the fire.
The days turned out to be a beautiful, once the light fog lifted (at around 9am). We hanged around the campsite most of the weekend and made some awesome brunches. We had 2 adjacent campsites right next to the play park which was great for the 4 toddlers among us. They could run off and play on their own. There is a direct walkway from the caravan park to the beach which is very convenient. The ablution facilities are clean, although you have to queue sometimes. All stands have an electricity point, braai facilities (which gets cleaned every morning), a black garbage bin (also emptied daily) and a water tap. All in all, Yzerfontein Caravan Park offers a pleasant camping experience!
